Richard Takesh, of Eatontown, formerly of Long Branch, passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 5, 2018. Richard was a man with no personal possessions, yet he was very rich, happy and content. He was a kind, caring, spiritual man and was a devout practicing Catholic. The community of Holy Trinity Church in Long Branch welcomed him and he touched all those who met him and worshiped with him. Richard was a long time member of the Men’s Holy Name Society of the Christ the King Parish in Long Branch and of the Long Branch chapter of the Knights of Columbus. Even though Richard had nothing, he was a dedicated member of the St. Vincent DePaul Society, an organization that helps families and individuals like him with financial support. Richard never saw himself as a poor person, as he firmly believed that he had all that he needed in this life – his friends. He loved his friends from church, his friends from the communities when he would ride his bike 7 days a week, morning to night and his friends he made at the nursing home where he lived for the past 5 years. Richard was born and raised in Paterson and he is pre-deceased by his family. He is survived by his devoted friends who welcomed him into their own families and with whom he shared many fond memories and delicious meals. Richard will be deeply missed – he is remembered as an angel who put the needs of others ahead of his own – he suffered here on earth so that those who were lucky and blessed enough to walk with him in this life could all grow to be better, kinder and more spiritual people. Donations may be made in Richard's memory to Christ the King Parish in Long Branch.
