Richard Thomas Rutkowski, 86, of Eatontown, formerly of Bloomfield, NJ, passed away at home suddenly on August 15, 2017. Richard was born in Dickson City, PA to Bernard and Ursula (Zulkowski) Rutkoski.
He was a graduate of Dickson City High School, Class of 1948.
After graduation, Rich honorably served our country in the US Air Force from 1948-1952.
He was employed as a foreman at General Plastics in Bloomfield, NJ retiring in 1999 after 30 years of dedicated service.
Richard was an avid sportsman who enjoyed the outdoors. He loved fishing most of all. He also was a wonderful gardener who raised his own vegetables and flowers. Rich played the piano, and he passed along his love for music to his family. He loved to spend time with his friends and family- especially his grand and great grandchildren.
He was a communicant of St. Dorothea’s RC Church in Eatontown.
He was predeceased by his parents and sister, Deanna Tomczyk of Dickson City, Pennsylvania.
Rich is survived by his “honey” of 65 years, Jackie (Berry) Rutkowski, their children, Theresa Bischak and her husband, Clayton, and Nancy Fernandez and her husband, Paul, his grandchildren- Matthew Fernandez and his wife Lauren, Jacqueline Winters and her husband, Craig, and great- grandchildren- Katelyn and Anthony Fernandez and Scarlett Winters.
Friends are invited to Rich’s memorial gathering on Monday, August 28th from 1pm to 3pm at the Braun Funeral Home, 106 Broad St. Eatontown NJ, 07724. A funeral service and memory sharing will take place at 2:30pm. Private interment will take place.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made online to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research.
