Molly J. Burge, 84, of Freehold, formerly of Manchester and West Long Branch, NJ passed away peacefully on August 27, 2021. Molly was born in Bristol, England to Edward Alfred Sydney Burge and Gwyneth Maude (Parks) Burge. As a very young child, Molly and her family survived the bombings of Bristol during WWII, and later moved to Christchurch England where her parents lay in eternal rest.
In her early life in England, Molly worked at the British Foreign Service before moving to the USA in 1957 and worked at the United Nations in NYC. Her love of travel led her to Paris where she met Herb, who she married and had four (4) children. Molly was very active while she raised her family in West Long Branch; serving as President of the PTA and on the Board of Education. She earned a college degree from Monmouth University later in life, then earned a teaching certification and became a science teacher. She was a longtime science teacher at both Red Bank Catholic High School and Long Branch High School.
In her active years, Molly loved to travel, visiting places such as China, Egypt, Africa and other destinations. She was an avid player of Bridge, Mah Jong, and dominos, and a fierce competitor at all. Most of all she enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, and attending the sporting activities of her grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her parents and her sister, June Simms. Molly is survived by her sons; Joel (Kim) Bernstein of Shark River Hills, NJ, Paul (Sarah) Bernstein of Windsor, CT, Peter (Angelica) Bernstein of Orlando, FL and Richard (Dawn) Bernstein of Yardville, NJ, grandchildren; Matthew, Andrew, Emily, Lauren, Julia, Brandon, Jonathan and Cara and her sister, Sally (Peter) Hall of ChristChurch, England as well as nieces and nephews in both the US and England: Michael Bernstein, Sheree Volak, Sue Hall, Christopher Hall, Steven Simms and Nicholas Simms (and their children).
Entombment will take place at Woodbine Cemetery, 14 Maple Ave., Oceanport, NJ. Services are private.
