Marjorie Yalch, 83 of Oceanport, NJ, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, February 2, 2022. The daughter of the late Michael and Anna Vargo Hobko, Marge was born on March 25, 1938 in Passaic, N.J. She grew up in Clifton, NJ, then raised her family in Wayne, NJ, before moving to Oceanport, NJ in 1985.
Marge (also known as “Maggie”) valued spending time with family and friends. Holidays at her house were full of food, love, and laughter and she thoughtfully brought a dish to every event; often her favorite pastries or famous cabbage and noodles. When her children were younger, Marge was always in attendance as the biggest supporter at their sports games and other activities. She was very giving and kind to others. This reflected in her continual work in service-based roles. As a life-long animal lover, she selflessly tended to countless domestic and wildlife creatures. This includes opening her doors to care for other’s pets. In addition to being an avid reader, Marge enjoyed marching bands, dancing, trips to Atlantic City, vacationing in Disney, and playing games. She was most competitive playing her favorite game, Scrabble, and came out ahead of even the most formidable of opponents.
Marge was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 34 years, Paul “Chief” Yalch, and her sister Dolores Amedeo. Surviving to mourn her loss and cherish her memory is her five children: Paul Yalch (Beth), Mary Ellen Gatewood (Dave), Christine Porter, Peter Yalch (Sharon), and Thomas Yalch (Soury); Nine grandchildren: Kristen (Carlos), Stephanie, Kelly (Dawayne), Diane, Andrew, Nicholas, Christopher, Kathryn, and Michael and eight great grandchildren: Dylan, Sydney, Emily, Myles, Aydan, Alexa, Ryleigh, and Wilson.
Arrangements are entrusted to The Braun Funeral Home, 106 Broad Street, Eatontown, NJ. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, February 9th from 3:00 PM to 6 PM, with a prayer service at 5:30 PM.
