Margaret Mary “Peg” McKelvey, 85, of Oceanport, passed away surrounded by her loving family on the morning of December 29, 2018 after a brief illness.
Peg was born in Buffalo, NY to Frank and Margaret (Campbell) Strubel.
She was a longtime communicant of St. Dorothea’s Roman Catholic Church in Eatontown.
Peg and her husband Jack settled in Oceanport nearly 60 years ago. She was happiest while spending time with her precious family, and was very proud of her wonderful grandchildren. Peg loved the beach and in her later years, would often drive down Ocean Blvd just to view the beautiful surf.
Peg was predeceased by her parents, her brother, George, and in 2007 by her dear husband of 49 years, Jack McKelvey.
She is survived by her children: daughter Peggy, with whom she lived; John and his wife Patti of Ocean Township and their children Johnny and Michelle; Bob, his wife Julie and their son Patrick of Avon by the Sea; Tom and his wife Mari-Anne of Torrance, CA and their children Brandon and Michael Lericos; Jim, his wife Daphne and their sons Matthew and Luke of Weddington, NC; and her brother, Frank Strubel of Palm Desert, CA.
Visitation will take place on Weds. Jan. 2nd from 4-8pm at the Braun Funeral Home, 106 Broad St., Eatontown. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Dorothea’s Roman Catholic Church on Thurs., Jan 3rd at 10am. followed by entombment at Woodbine Cemetery.
