Lillian P. Mattey, 98, of Ocean Twp., passed away at home on March 29, 2020 with her daughter by her side. She was born in Jersey City to the late John and Lillian (Smith) Perkins.
Lillian was a talented telephone sales person. She worked for Huffman Koos furniture store in Rahway and then later selling service contracts for RCA. She was a communicant of St. Dorothea’s RC Church in Eatontown.
Lillian grew up in Jersey City. After spending several years living in Bayonne, Linden and Toms River, she moved to Ocean Township in 1991 in order to be closer to her daughter, Elaine, and her family.
Lillian honorably served our country in the Army during World War II from 1943 to 1946. She worked as a transformer assembler and weather observer. She was awarded the American Service Medal, World War II Victory Medal, Good Conduct Medal and WAAC Service Medal.
She was predeceased by her loving husband of 68 years, Emil, in 2015. She was also predeceased by her seven siblings.
Surviving are her daughter and son in law: Elaine and Kevin Price and their daughter, Kristiana, all of Ocean Township. Also surviving are many nieces and nephews.
A private family service will be held at this time followed by burial at Brigadier General William C. Doyle Veterans Cemetery.
