Irene Fenton passed away after a long and courageous battle with various illnesses. She fought relentlessly to stay with us, recovering multiple times from complications, but ultimately succumbed on April 17, 2020.
Irene was born in Staten Island, NY on November 22, 1949. She met her husband, Ken, in 1976 and moved to Roselle, NJ. They settled down in Oceanport, NJ, where they lived for 37 years.
Irene loved to travel and enjoyed working for Eastern Airlines and Midwest Express. She retired from Verizon in 2013.
Irene loved to laugh, and had a great sense of humor and a sharp wit. She had an unwavering optimism and inner strength that carried her and her family through the hardest of times. Irene lived for her children above all else, supporting them in any endeavor they undertook and doing anything she could to help make their dreams come true. She was immensely proud of all her children’s accomplishments and was the driving force behind their success. Her family could not have asked for a better mother and wife. Irene will be greatly missed, and remembered always for the love and laughter she brought to the lives of her loved ones.
Irene is preceded in death by her parents, Tom and Laura Sheluga. She is survived by her husband, Ken; her children, Ken and Stacey; and her brothers, Tom and George.
