Frances A. Romeo, 90 went home to the Lord on July 11, 2021, she passed peacefully at home after a long illness. She was the youngest of four children, having three older brothers. She was raised in Brooklyn, NY. worked as a secretary at the American Thread Co. and was fluent in stenography and Italian. Then moved to Middletown, NJ, moved to Eatontown. She immediately got involved in the Community giving of her time, talents, and service. She volunteered to deliver Meals on Wheels, gave reading lessons to children and adults and received two Awards from the Monmouth County Board of Social Services. She was a member of the Senior Center of Eatontown. Frances got involved in St. Dorothea’s Parish as a Eucharistic Minister to the Homebound. Her donations to Charities put a smile on her face and two of her favorites was St. Jude Children’s hospital and the Sisters of Mercy.
You knew if you could not reach her by phone, you could find her outside tending to her garden!
Frances was a world traveler visiting many Countries with her friend Kathleen Stapleton. Although she loved to travel, her home in Rhode Island (The Yellowbird) was her place to find inner peace and connect with friends on her deck to hear the Ocean water wash up on the shore and the warm salty breeze with a glass of wine in hand.
Frances was an active member of Trenton Cursillo and worked weekends to assist women who chose to deepen their faith. She later became a Mercy Associate with the Mercy Sisters of the Mid-Atlantic Community, in Watchung, NJ where she continued to give her time, talent and service.
She was pre-deceased by her parents Masina Genovese-Romeo and Charles Salvatore Romeo
And her three brothers- Tony, John and Felix with Frances being the Princess of the family.
She is survived by nieces and nephews: Richard, Patricia Gilbert-Romeo, Nancy, Julie, Tina, and Robert Romeo, as well as her adopted family Patricia and Robert Burke, their children: Colleen, Robert, Shannon and their Grandchildren.
She has touched us and we have grown, we will miss her deeply.
