Robert Osterholz ,71, a longtime resident of Eatontown passed away on Friday, March 31st with his two daughters by his side. He was born in Port Jefferson, NY to the late Diedrich and Elizabeth Osterholz. He grew up in Madison, NJ before serving 4 years in the US Navy. On November 30, 1968, he married Kathryn McDonough and moved to Eatontown. They spent 44 years together raising and dedicating their lives to their children. Kathy preceded him in death in January 2013. He worked at Bendix for a few years before starting his career as an elevator constructor at Otis Elevator. He was employed there for 35 years before retiring November 2007. He was a member of the International Union of Elevator Constructors, Local #1.
He is remembered most for his ability to tell jokes, stories, and make people laugh. He always put family first and was willing to help anyone who needed it.
He was the devoted father of his two surviving daughters, Carrie and her husband Sean Collins and Heather Osterholz. He is also survived by two brothers, Richard Osterholz of Dunellon, FL, Peter Osterholz of Depew, OK, and brother in law Donald McDonough of Madison, NJ, along with several nieces, nephews, and close friends.
Please join us on Saturday, May 6, 2017 to celebrate his life at MJ's Restaurant, 1213 Sycamore Ave in Tinton Falls, NJ from 12 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the charity of your choice in Bob's memory.
