Gertrude D. Fary, 87, a longtime Eatontown resident, passed away peacefully on April 7, 2017 surrounded by her family. Gertrude was born in Long Branch to Edward and Margaret (Ryan) Aumack. She was a graduate of Long Branch High School, Class of 1948. In addition, she was a longtime communicant of St. Dorothea’s RC Church in Eatontown and worked for many years at Monmouth Park.
Gertrude enjoyed her weekly BINGO night with her Mom and also her friend and neighbor Doris Janda. After her six children grew up and she had a little spare time she loved doing crossword puzzles, reading and roller skating with friends.
She loved to be with her family and was hostess to many a backyard barbeque and holiday meal over the years for both family and friends.
She will be sorely missed.
She is predeceased by her parents, her brother, Lawrence, by her beloved husband of 66 years, George T. “Bud” Fary in 2015, and in 2016 by her son, Robert Fary.
Gertrude is survived by her loving children and their spouses; Patricia and Robert Yuille of OR, Lawrence Fary of PA, Cathleen Desmond, Jean and William Mego and Thomas Fary, all of Eatontown; her sister, June Aumack of Delray Beach, Florida; brothers; Daniel Aumack and wife Joan of West Long Branch and Gerald Aumack and wife Joanne of Oceanport, sister-in-law, Harriet Hill of Eatontown; eleven grandchildren; Caroline, Chad, Lisa, Sandra, Eric, Kimberly, Joshua, Jennifer, Courtney, Megan and Rachel; nine great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren.
A memorial gathering will be held at Braun Funeral Home 106 Broad Street, Eatontown, NJ 07724 on April 30th from 3PM to 6PM with a memorial service at 5:00 pm.
